Global Connects: U.S. Department of State's effort to connect 1.5 billion to the Internet

Log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Access to the internet is essential to development – just like roads, ports, electricity, and other infrastructure. It is also foundational for achieving the SDGs. To that end, the U.S. State Department's Global Connect Initiative aims to bring an additional 1.5 billion people online by 2020. It also seeks to foster networking among key stakeholders, to accelerate efforts toward universal connectivity, to share best practices, to promote partnerships and collaboration, and to encourage innovative industry-driven solutions to extend connectivity to remote areas. This session will identify stakeholders, and discuss scope, budget, reach, and project timeline.
