Nate believes “work” is a skill that must be learned, and he should know—he’s been working since he was 14, when he got his start slinging chips and soda at his neighborhood pool’s snack bar. From there, he worked retail and sold printers to put himself through college, where he studied history. And while he can’t rattle off important dates, he can spin the stories of the world in a way that inspires anyone listening. It’s his love of a good story that pushed him to seek out and start living his own; soon after graduating, he joined the military so he could be a part of history in the making. As an army medic, he spent a year stationed in Kuwait, molding and shaping his team through high-pressure situations.Today, he’s deploying lessons learned in the military for civilian organizations as a facilitator for Frontier Academy. His method: trial-by-fire. His key takeaway: how to maximize the good you can get out of people despite intense situations. And when he’s not shaking up perspectives left and right, you’ll find him kayaking with a cold beer in hand or belting out a hit at a karaoke bar.
