Chief Innovation Officer

My life's work: creating, protecting and growing inclusive and just societies by equipping communities with the skills, resources and solidarity needed for transformative action. At my core, I am a community organizer. I love to work betwixt and between industries and disciplines, leveraging moments of transitions to create more human-centered systems. I thrive off of tackling huge problems with great stakes alongside great teams in diverse contexts. I've had the privilege of working in Egypt, Afghanistan, Kenya, Jordan, St Louis/Ferguson, Birmingham, Atlanta and beyond. My time on the Obama campaign and as an appointee during the first term of the Administration at USAID were some of the most fundamental experiences of my professional life.A native of New Jersey, I grew up helping to build and run our family business, a local coffee shop. I have a bachelor of arts in Political Economies in Transition, a self-designed independent interdisciplinary major from Bates College . I am a Truman National Security Partner, a New Leaders Council Fellow, AJC 30 Under 30, StartingBloc Social Innovation fellow and member of the Open Society Institute’s pilot class for their Empowering Education Program in the Ukraine in 2002. Other expressions of my work include: co-founding Cities of Purpose - an Atlanta civic education/dinner party project; teaching Design Thinking for Social Change at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) with the incredible Kyla Fullenwider; being a core faculty member at The Institute of Compassionate Leadership; teaching free Kali Natha yoga in public spaces (RYT 200 Yoga Alliance); chairing the board of Rhize, a global fellowship that brings together movement-building activists worldwide; loving my city through experiences with LEAD Atlanta and being a proud resident Grant Park, Atlanta.
