Nathaniel is the COO at Ushahidi, where they build software to help people raise their voice, and organizations gather and use data to advocate for and respond to those they serve. Nathaniel also helps run business development for BRCK, which builds rugged Internet connectivity solutions for people and things in emerging markets. Nathaniel was selected as part of the inaugural class of Presidential Innovation Fellows – running open data for USAID, and then went on to become the first Chief Data Coordinator at USAID. The role involved working to develop tools and strategies for liberating data to fuel entrepreneurship and innovation for international development.Nathaniel was selected as part of the 2014 GOOD100, dubbed a “connective thinker.” Nathaniel has also previously co-founded Fellow Robots, a robotics company. Prior to that Manning was a financial associate for the Clean Energy team at the Clinton Climate Initiative, living in Bangkok and Melbourne and working throughout Asia-Pacific. Nathaniel holds a BA and MA from Brown University.
