Steve Birnbaum is a technology executive with over 20 years of experience in business technology, telecommunications and satellite communications. Prior to joining Marlink, he was the CTO of a satellite service provider, and an independent consultant who supported numerous industry and humanitarian organizations.

He has many years of field experience responding to disasters and humanitarian crises throughout the world including the earthquakes in Haiti and Nepal, Superstorm Sandy and Cyclone Pam, where he led the NetHope response team. He received the White House Champions of Change award for his role with the FEMA Innovation Team during the response to Superstorm Sandy.

He currently serves on several coordination and advisory groups related to technology for humanitarian and emergency response, including the US Dept of State and Homeland Security.
